Frequently Asked Questions
What is my IP address?
Your public IP address is the unique identifier assigned to your device by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). FckMyIP instantly detects both your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and shows your geolocation on an interactive map.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.1) supporting about 4.3 billion unique addresses. IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses (e.g. 2001:db8::1) supporting virtually unlimited addresses. Most modern devices support both protocols simultaneously.
Can someone find my exact location from my IP address?
No. An IP address reveals your approximate geographic location at the city or region level through geolocation databases, but not your exact physical address. FckMyIP uses MaxMind GeoLite2 data for accurate IP geolocation.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) identifies a network operated by a single organization (such as your ISP) for internet routing purposes. It helps identify which network an IP address belongs to.
Is FckMyIP free to use?
Yes, FckMyIP is completely free with no registration required. We also provide a free REST API for developers to programmatically look up IP geolocation data.
